Heather Kirk has written newspaper and magazine articles, radio scripts, poetry and fiction. She has also taught for many years at universities and colleges.

Heather grew up in Oakville, Ontario, and studied English literature at Dalhousie University in Halifax, the University of Toronto and York University.

She now lives with her husband and dog in Barrie, Ontario.

Although Heather is of British ancestry, she has been interested in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union since she was a teenager. She lived and worked in Poland between 1977 and 1979.

Warsaw Spring (Napoleon, 2001) was her first novel for young adults. A Drop of Rain, the sequel to Warsaw Spring, was published in the spring of 2004. She published a novel, Wacousta, in 2005.
